Notes About The Poem

DEEP BLACK THOUGHTS        *

(Apropos Of Civil Disobedience)

Majority rules;

civil disobedience

is for whites only:-

Civil disobedience—

rights of the majority;

not of lesser Blacks:-

Not being a black,

Thoreau claimed rights to civil

disobedience:-

Now, episodes

daily praise whites for civil

disobedience:-

We Blacks remain dared

to be disobedient;

claiming civil rights!

We’ve won civil rights.

let’s continue in oneness—

beating their divide:-

In the dream's oneness,

we must and will overcome—

due to deep black thought:-
