Deception

my lies are the river that divides us
my words are riddled with deceit
to tell the truth would be best
but I think, to much time has passed

I can't bare to watch you walk away
so I close my eyes and fail to see
the tears falling down your cheeks
as you take one last glance at me

honesty could make you stay
but you seeing the real me
is a price I'm unwilling to pay
so I just say goodbye and pretend not to care
that the biggest piece of my heart is no longer there.
