December 5th

Tis the damn season
To roll up your sleeves
And to do the work you know you need

Happy songs and garland strands
For some are all fine and grand
Facebook posts with doll-like children brag,
"How much Happier are We! "

If at times You feel empty and life, bland
Know that everyone has been stuck in quicksand
At one time or another
The important task is reaching for a Hand

So allow yourself this moment
For it's all We have
Caramel coffee and Christmas carols In the car
Dress up the cats and hike a bit too far
Your breath visible through a warm winter's scarf
And search for something
Not quite as far as you thought
Happiness with all you've got

Thank you so much for the comment. I'm glad I can share my holiday thoughts, I'm sure they can be difficult for many.
