Death's Denial
Hollow eyes gaze emptily
trapped behind times window
in a futureless past
He is not gone
yet I grieve
Lost, he wanders
in the labyrinth
of elusive memories
He is not gone
yet I grieve
Reaching to touch
a fading sunset
alone
He is not gone
yet I grieve
As the light flickers
he struggles
in death’s infancy
He is not gone
yet I grieve
