Notes About The Poem

death penalty

shredded shards hover
if there is not a purpose~
life has no meaning.

limb amputation
your life left in a child's hand~
a burden you are.

soul shattered remains,
where did eternal love go~
death it does seek out

Well, I am not exactly sure the interpretation of this one, but I am thinking it means when we get old or when we are old and down our child makes the decisions about if we live or die sort of like when a mother decides if her pregnancy is worth carrying to term. Anyway, it made me stop and think. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and for stopping by my page. Sara K

Sigh.. This is such a poignant and profound senryu poem.. Your words deeply strike the heart and shatter the emotions because of the soul-aching vulnerability expressed here. "if there is not a purpose~life has no meaning", "where did eternal love go~death it does seek" So powerfully crafted, dear Eve ~ sending light!
