Death by Poison Pen

A goddess on the worldwide scene A shooting star of stage and screen So gracefully across the floor One curtain call and out the door A flame that shines neath starlit nights Her name on high in neon lights A slave for what the part demands An autograph for all her fans But history then turns the page The roles dry up with time and age All hope soon dwindles day by day Then takes whatever job she may And when she's crushed by harsh reviews When splashed across the morning news A critic lies in lion's den Her career dies from poison pen

Thats sad, and very well written really. How sometimes critics and media especially those with poison pen can ruin someones career etc that they worked so hard for, ive seen so many such true incidents. I love the rhymes here and flow of your well woven lines. So well delivered. Powerful write this is. Pleasure reading this.

Thank you, I agree. I recently saw a photo of Bridget Fonda and she was unrecognizable from all the weight she put on. I don't know what happened to her, maybe the roles started drying up for her too. All I know is she was in some great movies. Godfather 3, Jackie Brown, and Singles just to name a few. It is sad how Hollywood can make and break stars. I wonder how many of them that will attend the Oscars tonight will be forgotten tomorrow. I appreciate your feedback friend.
