Death bed poetry: Swami Sivananda
“Happiness comes when the individual merges in God”
~ last words of Swami Sivananda
‘Who am I’ being the question
Is what we first need to probe
Before we wonder Who God is
As wayward ego we disrobe
All that comes and goes is unreal
So it’s clear we’re not body mind
Space and time seems to be a cage
In which desires grip us in a bind
Taking refuge in staid silence
Ego in head melds with love in heart
As formless presence poised in the void
We feel within bliss ignition start
Bliss in permanence is a boon
Fixating focus in all time meditation
In time identity falls away
We then feel one with God’s creation
Mirroring the swami’s heartbeat
Divine magnetism bestows clear sight
The mists clear and then we see
That our true form is living light
