Notes About The Poem

Dear Teddy Bear, My Teddy Bear

Dear Teddy Bear, My Teddy Bear

I keep you with me night and day,
Amazing how you always play.
When it is time to take my nap
You rest with me right in my lap.

You are my bestest furry friend!
May our sweet friendship never end.
I know you love me and you care
Dear Teddy bear, my Teddy bear.

One can never really outgrow the need for a good friend or just something soft to hug... This precious poem brings back some nice childhood memories for me... Wonderful work Connie! Good luck in the contest!

Thank you Jean. Children really love their stuffed animals and give them an almost sentient personality. My poem was twice as long and I had to cut it down for the contest. : ) xxoo

Made me all smiley. This is something I can relate to as a child and as a Mother - that attachment to a special thing. So sweet. Congrats on your placement. Love ... CayCay

This is so tender. Years ago, I got my wife a little one, not knowing how in her 50s she’d react. Tears came to her eyes, as she cuddled it and placed it neatly on the bed. Thanks for summoning these heartfelt memories.

Oh WOW Connie this is cuter than cuter and sweeter than sweet! I LOVE it - I have my teddy bear still which my mom kept for me and I have in our bedroom - he only has one eye, his fur is half gone but he/she looks at me so lovingly! Holding thumbs! Hugs, Jennifer.

A sincere ode to the teddy bear, Connie! Did you know that Elvis Presley had his own teddy bear based on his song?

No, I didn't, but it doesn't surprise me. He was the beloved only child whose twin died at birth so he was even more treasured by his parents. Thank you Ralph. xxoo

Thank you M.L. When my oldest daughter was a teen she told me to throw her teddy bear away. I reminded her years later and she was horrified and asked did I do it? I said no, I saved it and she was so happy. Haha. : )
