Dear Lord

Dear Lord…
…we don’t talk often and I guess that’s down to me
I struggle to converse with those I cannot clearly see
I understand that you’re the one on whom I should depend
And though I ask a favour now… I’m asking for a friend

The special lady in my life, who I think of as ‘wife’
Is soon to trust her eyesight to a fellow with a knife
A simple op will let her kiss her cataract goodbye
An easy thing to say about another person’s eye

Have I hid behind her vision that is blurred and grey
I’ve never had to think about it much before today
But when we met her eyes were clear and I was rather fit
But now her vision is impaired and I have changed… A BIT…

So please, when all is done allow my girl to clearly see…
Perhaps a slightly rosey tint whene’er she looks at me

Amen

I think, on reflection… That might avoid rejection. ;-)

ha! nicely done, terry! if this is true, i hope it all goes well for your partner, but i'm sure she'll still find you wonderful in her eyes, even when they're improved...

A couple of weeks time. Don’t worry, I’ve got a blond wig and a Brad Pitt mask to fall back on. Glad you enjoyed, Ilene

Terry, I say “Amen” to your prayer. I also pray that you will have great conversations with God. Often I find my voice as I read His word. I know He loves us and cares about the things and people we care about. This is a sweet poem…she is your friend, your wife…I love the slightly rosey tint…beautiful prayer!

Thanks, Kim. I’ve never been a believer but I would never dismiss anybody’s faith. If it were compulsory to adopt a religion I would be Christian. As it stands, I remain a dubious but hopefully morally decent fellow ;-)

A light hearted entreaty, Paula. I only hope she doesn’t take one look at me and say, “Didn’t you used to be younger?” ;-)

Yikes, hope it all goes OK for her Terry, my optician told me he could see the start of cataracts, told me to wear dark glasses and avoid sunlight, shouldn't be a problem in the UK. Problem you got now is that she'll see what you're getting up to . Bank account, what websites you visit. Lol. Tom

Good job your optician didn’t add, “And avoid garlic.” ;-) Terry

And for you too, Beryl. It’s certainly treated as pretty much a routine op. Anne had one eye done a year ago, but that eye is a lazy eye she’s had all her life, so the improvement was limited. This time it’s her ‘good’ eye, so fingers crossed. Terry
