Deal with God

Have you made a deal with God? Loss can make us do crazy things. However you choose to grieve, I hope you find peace and healing. Deal with God By Michelle Morris 03/03/2024 When Death has come And taken their love away You make a deal with God You hope and you pray You get down on your knees You sob and you scream You wail at this life Feeling so bitter and empty It leaves you spinning Off your own axis It leaves you wishing It was you in that casket Because being the one To survive and live on Is a curse and a blessing You can't fathom alone Swimming in a million tears Drowning in the abyss of grief No more memories to make No more dreams we can weave Left with this aching A longing so deep Nothing can heal it Our battered soul reeling And that deal with God Gets revisited every day Desperation and sleeplessness Causing nightmares and frailty Hanging on by a thread Fingernails on a chalkboard Only time can heal wounds As God helps us move forward And lo and behold, we find God's mercy and grace work The magic and miracles Help us work through the hurt Time and space and love Hope and faith and light Miracles and magic and prayer God's Angels that hold us tight Then one day it happens The heartbreak is no longer unbearable We can feel without razor blades And our lives can begin again Death no longer the enemy Hearts no longer shattered pieces Wishes and dreams renewed Souls know they can still believe © Michelle Morris, 2024

Michelle, Your poem captures the raw essence of grief and the tumultuous journey of loss with profound honesty. Your words touched me deeply, reflecting the agonizing pain and the desperate negotiations with faith in times of sorrow. Through your verses, you unveil the complexities of surviving profound loss, navigating through the shattered fragments of our souls. Your poem is a testament to resilience and the gradual emergence of hope amidst the darkness. May your words be a guiding light for those traversing similar paths, offering peace and understanding in their time of need. - Blessings, Daniel

Thank you for your wonderful message of support and encouragement, Daniel. It brought tears to my eyes. This poem is very close to my heart and that of friends and family whose emotions I've picked up on. I do hope that my words help others as I feel death and grief are often avoided as topics by people due to fear. Stay safe and take care. Blessings and best wishes. :-)
