Deaf Love

She always whispered
Loving words to him
Words which would
Never ever hint
Her pains, her angst,
Her simmering anger
Her holding back
And, maybe, all her worries
She just wanted to please
Please him always
He desperately wanted her
To ‘carry’
Little knowing
What she actually carried?
For him
Her glowing
And smiling face
Would be the message
Message of unflinching dedication
Perennial devotion
For him
She was the one
Never ‘A lady’
But
The lady of his dreams
Alas!
There was something missing
The sound waves.....
She had always convinced him
‘No problems,
It’s always heart to heart’
He also never felt
His loss of hearing
Played a part
The love between the two
Was never the proverbial
Blind love
But worse than that
Deaf love-
Literally and figuratively
