Dead People Don'T Cry

When life is this tough, you may long to die.
The Grim Reaper beckons, like he's your friend.
Try to remember, dead people don't cry.

A bad beginning, may look like the end.
Your soul is anguished, every night and day.
The Grim Reaper beckons, like he is your friend.

Try not to listen, he'll lead you astray.
It's hard not to follow, his dark allure.
Your soul is anguished, every night and day.

Death's not the answer, it offers no cure.
Filled with sadness, you're not able to think.
It's hard not to follow, his dark allure.

Fill your cup with love, it can be your drink.
Refreshing of mind, dancing with the light.
Pouring out sadness, now able to think.

You have the power, you're able to fight.
Refreshing of mind, dancing with the light.
You thought life was tough, you wanted to die.
Still you remembered, dead people don't cry.

Great poem, Richard. Beautifully interweaving hope amidst despair. Just a fantastic piece of poetry. Hate to sound like a hard case, but is this form terza rima? I'm a novice, but they gave me another definition of lanterne. Nevertheless, a marvelous poem, my friend. Love always. RW

Interesting. Sometime it does just take some crying to feel better. if your gone, it is so final, no crying can save you. Nice dance with the reaper.

Gripping and moving write Rick....working with the elderly, I walk the halls along side the Grim Reaper. I make sure I kiss my residents each day for the next day they may be gone. Hugs

I'm a personal support worker, we do the daily care that nurses used to do, dress, bathe, feed, etc.... nurses now give out meds and tend wounds.

I am not a very religious man but applaud you for your beliefs and your willingness to express them! Keep smiling and stay happy!

Intrestingly I am also not a religious man, to many horrors have been commited in the name of religions. My salvation is not earned, it is a gift I have accepted and now I enjoy a relationship with my savior. For me this is a very intimate relationship and one that has never let me down.

This sounds like a note to those considering suicide which is always such a horrific event for family and friends. A timely warning Richard, reminds me how fragile we are.

Richard, if it is not the answer why does it happen??/ oops out-loud thought.. However I do like the thought of my loved ones who passed, tear free... I do not like the image and thought of them feeling sad,,, when longing one another... I also imagine they don't long... They know we will meet again... good poem,, provoked more then one thought...LOL... always~ LINDA

As a Christian I believe the devil is intent on destroying us before we are able to see and experience the light. We in are darkest moments are made to believe that Death is the end of all our suffering. Better that we cry and live life than to be dead and shed no tears. I believe without God there is nothing just eternal darkness. Sorry, this may be more information than you bargained for. I guess my poem got us both to thinking.
