Dead Man's Prologue

Dead Man’s Prologue

Apologies I can’t be with you all,
I was un-expectantly called away.
Without prior notice or warning,
Urgent meeting with overnight stay.

Thank you for a marvelous turn out,
Deeply honoured, feeling so proud.
Enjoy my life in raucous celebration,
Remembrance of joy, happy crowd.

Surprisingly I made it to Heaven,
To be honest, It’s not bad up here.
We have Wi-Fi and all mod cons,
Even a fridge stocked with cold beer.

Time now to end this broadcast,
Losing connection dear family & friends.
So grateful for the times we shared,
Goodbye now as my mortal life ends.

Partly laughed, well mostly did until the end when I partly cried. You mixed the two in my view, but in an impressively dramatic, witty and humorous way. You realize, of course, that now you must assign someone close to you the job of actually reading this at your funeral! No, not me - I don't do podiums. All the best ... CayCay

I wrote this shortly after attending the funeral of a friend, he was only 31. Obviously there was no broadcast but tears and laughter, thanks CayCay for your kind words, kind regards, Kevin xx

I think this is marvelous, and I hope that you are right. My gut says you are!

Great perspective. An enjoyable read. Nice to know you are still around though, Kevin.
