Dead Man Talking
Dead Man Talking
You think your alive
as you open your mouth.
Boasting of the trophies
that hide all your doubts.
You’ve lied to yourself
so many times,
that your heart believes
it’s committed no crime.
Your eyes are blind
to what is near.
They only see ghosts
of all that you fear.
The words that pour
from an unrepentant tongue.
Descend to your soul
and devour your young.
You’ve deceived yourself
again, and again.
Your hearts disappeared
into the blackness of sin.
You say the right words
and believe the right things;
But your mind’s been sold
to a darkened king.
Outside you’re alive.
Inside you’re dead.
Your bones are withered.
You’re cursed instead.
You’re a dead man talking.
You just don’t believe it.
You’ve lost who you are.
You just can’t see it.
