Daytime Nightmares

Haunted, I go into panic as I wake from sleep
Images in my mind that puncture me deep
Desperately I close my eyes and try to forget
The nightmares all around me that are such a threat

My terrors come alive and haunt me in the day
Just two steps behind me, can't keep them at bay
I'll try with all my might to forget they exist
As I fight against their hold, trying to resist

The feeling of paranoia grips at my soul
Shrieking cries I hear clearly from the ghoul
One day, perhaps, I can finally put to rest
These daytime nightmares, with me are obsessed
