Days of Deception

Their tongues are coated in a layer of deceit, And they trample over promises with their feet. They're beings who are bound by deceptions, Whose very essence oozes with misconceptions. They struggle to look you in the eyes, For their gaze holds nothing but lies. On occasion they will give you their hand, But don't be fooled by their stand. They seek to corrupt your heart, You would be wise to avoid them from the start. Seeking quick pleasures and casting aside love, They traverse this land with push and shove. Now when I say they I am referring to most, The passage of time gives way to a demonic host. We're all given an unfair bid, To sell off the good intentions of our childhood kid. Most of us have been sold, Leaving our insides barren and cold. Nearly everyone is a puppet dancing on strings, Marching to delusion for their unjust kings. Having a strong sense of individuality is a must, Don't sell yourself short to the temptations of lust. Be fluid with your convictions, Don't become a being of contradictions. You alone have been granted the key, However what lies behind the door comes with a fee. Turn the knob and put on your suit of godly armor, Basking in the rays of humanity until you have grown warmer.
