Day By Day

I looked into my broken mirror
At the shattered images of me
I watched my fragmented life fall piece by piece
Til there was nothing left to see

I blew out my exhausted candle
And lay down upon my wrinkled bed
I let the dark consume my soul
As the nightmares filled my head

I did warfare with the demons
Who came to stake their claim
And torment what's left of my sanity
Until all that's left is pain

This crippling loneliness vice grips my heart
To where I no longer know how to feel
And I walk out my door with a pasted on smile
And act like someone who isn't real

I pray God above has heard my plea
And he will soon send help my way
And he will wipe away the scars I bear
And live to love another day
