Day by Day

Days go by and I feel so numb
My brain is foggy and I feel dumb
I don't know who I am now
who I used to be took a bow
the day my son took his life
and now I live with strife
and grief and all the emotions
and going through the motions
of life as it is currently
and I wish fervantly
for my son to be alive and whole
but instead I play a role
of someone who isn't shattered
as if it really mattered
that I still struggle daily
and try to blend in gaily
with the world moving on
I am stuck because he is gone
but I do get up and live day by day
and say what I have to say
