Day and Night

Day and night must testify of my labors,
And have to appraise the passing of hours
The undying zap to climb the ladder
To where Fame's proud temple shines!

Sweat and blood must their testimony give
As long as the Lord gives me grace enough to live,
And supplies the amenity of breath to toil;
Come storm or whatever tempests
Or the heights of pain and turmoil,
It shall be mine the toil of day and night;
How I wish all would get me right!

" The undying zap to climb the ladder " .... I love this ... great poem ... and yes the race is not given to the swift but those that truly endure ... and thank you for the kind words ....Tommy Lawrence
