David, Goliath, and My Battles
DAVID, GOLIATH, AND MY BATTLES
David fought with Goliath with just five little stones,
He did not go with an army; no, he fought him alone.
David fought with Goliath, though he was nine feet tall,
He didn’t run from the battle, no, he just gave his all.
David’s faith was so valiant—look what he told the king:
“I fought a bear and a lion—with God I can do this thing.”
David didn’t wear armor, nor did he carry a spear,
He just walked in that valley without a doubt or a fear.
I’d like to be more like David—I have Goliaths to fight:
Memories of my past choices, doing what just wasn’t right.
Fantasies, thoughts of such passion for some I meet every day,
Wishing with all of my power that they would just go away.
These are Goliaths I battle, yet when to Jesus I bring,
I can win victory o’er them, in Him I can do all things.
Jesus has fought ALL Goliaths on that old rugged cross;
He fought the devil and beat him so that I wouldn’t be lost.
So Jesus, through YOUR Holy Spirit, I claim a victory today
Over EVERY Goliath who may come in to my way!
