Darkness Where Now Poe And Raven Reside, (Part Five) - Of Six Total Among the hideous, Poe's great love stood Annabel, her beauty shining so well Wretched souls glaring, free them if she could From agony of this malignant hell. She watched as Master Poe walked away Noticing his limping, unsteady gait And that broken smile as if to her say I am sorry at your accursed Fate. A glimpse of love and pity others lack Perhaps a glimmer of- its not too late Sweetest message- darling I want you back You will see my clever plan just you wait. Then onto the stage a small cage was brought Its covering removed, there hissed a snake With green dripping fangs, Annabel it sought She knew, her very life was at a stake! Seeing upon stage, black bag Poe had dropped She raced over to find short sword inside With it perhaps now the snake she could stop As it was flowing with its coming slide. Those watching this horrific scene went wild With swiftest motion cutting off its head Then overcome, she cried like a small child Asking, is it, really and truly dead? Its gushing black blood pouring at her feet Again the crowd, gave her cheering applause Such beloved hero to that snake defeat Then a booming voice caused all there to pause. The Hero had returned, sword in his hand Annabel to save, he ran to her side Shouting, my Fate, freeing all in this land No longer my destiny will I hide! With that heard, Poe every gate key threw Save one he had given Hero before Love had said, her release is overdue For its help, Poe fallen down to implore. Now poor wretched souls saw Hope was alive Raven was summoned to stop their mad flight Freedom's promise, on its lights they did thrive But Raven had great powers in his might! Robert J. Love is the hero's name, to save the Lost his fame, Raven swoops in to stop him now, to keep Annabelle Lee his vow. Will Poe let her go? I'll read Part Six and then I'll know. Carole :D

Again, I want to read the book! This has the makings of a good trilogy. I'd settle for a novella though. Annabel is darned good with a sword!

Thank you my dear friend. I hope and pray that my yet to be written part six lives up to your expectations my friend. First stanza is all I've composed and it sits ell with me--at least for right now it does. Giving this series a strong finish is my goal, one that I so dearly want to meet!

I can only hope that my poetry gives to others some of the passion, joy, delight, inspiration, insight, wisdom, true message, heart and soul that all the poetry I have read in my 49 years of reading and writing poetry has blessed and given unto me!

Thank you my friend. I am very pleased that you have found this to be so. I believe you will like the 6th part and how this dark tale ends. It has a bit of a twist in it too..

Annabel! She will remain that pure love.. that untarnished beauty.. that dream within the dark and light.. the alluring mystery.. the unattainable.. the inspiring muse.. the poet! The wanderer.. the dreamer.. the venturer.. the lover.. the seeker of truth.. their thirst ever unquenched.. through your great poetry, Robert, we revel in the beauty of Poe's poetic flair. his great love to Annabel, the shining beauty.. defying "dark fate" and "horrific scene".. always willing to stand the raven might

Thank you my friend. Your inspiring and wonderfully insightful comment on this series has me overwhelmed with delight. I see you are a true fan of Poe/Annabel as am I. I had previously thought to write this at twice the length it is going to be done. But I know much longer poems are too oft ignored by the majority. And we poets want our poems to be read, enjoyed and to give to others- thus sadly, in today's world length must always be a consideration.

Three different paths! Oh, my, I'm looking forward. P.S.: May I fantasize a little, if you don't mind? I do have so great deal of sympathy for Poe, that I can't stay idly by as a spectator. The Raven is, in fact, the Poe's guardian angel. That's him who's to withdraw Poe from hell. This is just an fantasy of one of your readers, who claims nothing. I'm sure your story will have an exciting ending anyway.

Thank you my friend. I truly enjoy that fantasizing you just did. And true the Raven does play a major part in the ending. I'll not give away any more of that for general plot line now. I think you will enjoy this ending, which I started to compose today, I got the first stanza completed.

I had a strong feeling this was a trick "And that broken smile as if to her say I am sorry at your accursed Fate." and yes, I am so GLAD it was! The hero did not save her, though, she saved herself. Shades of Mulan. He provided the tool, but she has EMPOWERED herself, with her love's help. Adore this! A modern day faerie tale where the heroine can become a hero! Wow!

Thank you my great friend. True Annabel herself is a hero, just as she was the love of Poe's life. I think you will like part 6 my friend. Even if it has a bit of a twist in it too...

"The Hero had returned, sword in his hand" There will always be a battle between good and evil. Even though the wrong seems so strong, and evil wins most of the time. Truth leads the way!! Once again my dear friend, you have created a masterpiece with your words. Darkness verses Light! Light overcoming Darkness. ~ Brandy

Thank you my great friend. You nailed it. Light overcomes Darkness. Those that see this world's constant and evil Darkness and are brave enough to fight against it are rewarded by God. Sad that the world has been so infected as to the level of blindness prevalent now- that tens of millions reject the Light immediately whenever it is shown.

Each time you write a part of this series I say to my self "How can Robert top that one" but some how you always do! Great poetry as always my dear friend. I now know what to expect on part 6. "Another topper" Love & Peace, always ~Charlie

Thank you my great friend. You confidence in me is reassuring, and truly appreciated. I have several ideas of how I want to end this tale and will need some time to finally decide which path to take. Definitely will be one that honors both the lost Poe and the wrongly cursed Annabel Lee.

Hope has turned the table. Our dear Poe and Annabel Lee and HOPE together, all three together but battling in hell with Raven... Awaiting the final piece in this tale!

Thank you my great friend. I think you will like the 6th part and its ending to this dark tale. It may even surprise you.
Date: 5/13/2019 1:48:00 PM
Yes, the fifth act! Thank you, Robert. P.S.: A poet would never leave his love in Hell. The darkness that gives hope. The death which is as white as snow in comparison with a true darkness, in a way, is just a show, but Raven has great powers in his might. May Raven forever reside and dwell.

Thank you my great friend. I am so truly delighted that you enjoyed this piece. I think that you will also enjoyed the conclusion- Part 6, that I will write in the future. As I have not yet scheduled any specific time to sit down and compose it. I am still toying with choosing which three different paths to take to compose the end of this dark tale..

Thank you my great friend. I too hope dark poetry , when written in a quality way becomes more popular. However if it is written to be crude, nasty, vile or to disgust then I find no favor with it myself.
