Darkness Becomes You

Fearing oblivion
 is not like dying
you can predict it
But oblivion?
It’s mercurial
Just like the fog
It surrounds you until you can’t see
Oblivion becomes you
Until you can’t think
This phobia
Is just like the verdict
Of hell and heaven
Where you don’t know
Whether you will get sapphires
Or burn in fire
Or frost in ices
Fearing oblivion is wearing an invisible cloak
Or looking at a lonely forte
Neither will tell you
What they hold
Until you just pick up the courage
To yourself behold
You fear drowning
Like you fear oblivion
both surround you in a labyrinth
both offer endless
depths and heights
but you aren’t offered answers
until you tire yourself down
and eternally fade in to dark oblivion
To find answers to queries yourself
in an inevitable helplessness

A very powerful poem and very well put together. I use to think that way. Now I trust in Lord Jesus because He's the way, the truth and the light and in Him there shall be no night.
