Darkness

The darkness closes around me
Shoulders so heavy
Pulling me under
So hard to swallow
Ears muffled, throbbing pain
Tension
Hard to understand
Heavy soul, sinking sinking
Not a single one knows my depths
No care to know or understand
Just keep it from them
They would not understand
Looking out from this pit is blinding
Retreat is all I know
People leave - they don't want to see this
Loneliness is nonstop in here
Want to close the lid on this place
Enjoy the feelings outside
This is what I know
When they sting I come back
I can't understand outside
Intentions confuse
The past keeps me bound here
Need strength to free me
Someone to be careful with me
Someone who will care
Stop hurting
It hurts so much
