Darkness

I have inhabited your fears since you were born and live beside you constantly. I am the subject of lore. I hide in everyday places. In plain sight. You try to avoid me but come night time you must confront me. Why do you fear me? Is it a fear of the unknown or a fear of what goes unseen, who knows what horrible creatures might be lurking but feet in front of your face? You cannot hide from me yet you try only to fail. I am a fortress of impenetrable solitude for all those who wish to get away. I am a fresh start for those wishing to get away and start anew. What am I? I am Darkness. Darkness does not judge and welcomes you in freely to its deep confines. I watch over you when you sleep and dream. Do not fear me for I will cause you no harm, I am but exploited for sinister uses. Don't fear the dark.
