Dark Upon the Soul
Deep upon the river dreary,
thoughts within a mind so weary.
Screaming cries to a tortured soul,
miseries sorrow takes its toll.
Upon the deepest darkest night,
fleeting spirits take dark winged flight.
And guided to a soulful mind,
a resting place for it to find.
And in the morning light of day,
the dreary thoughts are there to stay.
So in the light the days do drag,
making one’s spirit, feel like slag.
Deep upon the river dreary,
thoughts within a mind so weary.
