Dark Child

Dark Child

Smile Beautiful Black Child, Smile
Your innocence will last only a while.
A black curtain lays in wait
For those who share your fate.
Dark child, destined to live for certain
Behind an evil invisible curtain.
That black curtain will fall for you
While others walk on through.
You’ll have to be strong to survive
The problems of just staying alive.
You must run long and hard my son
Your life will not be an easy one.
There will be no easy street
To cushion your weary feet.
Each day you will hear the call
Each day you will see the curtain fall.
