Notes About The Poem

Dandefluff
In a field of time, remote,
I'm destined to forever float.
Once, I was sure-footed,
youthful and firmly rooted
until a little girl went "puff",
and now I'm only dandefluff.
As time marched on, aloof,
a little girl went "poof".
Skies, like hair, turned to grey,
and a dandelion had her day,
but, in memory, I ring true,
in a sunlit sky of blue.
Will my scattered seed,
fulfill the childish need
of tomorrow's winsome girl
setting a new stem atwirl?
A gentle breeze that blows,
comforts me and says it's so.
or will I forever float,
airborne, like a wandering boat,
lost in time or sky or sea
of her ancient memory?
Will she hear her first dog
bark like a horn through fog?
I don't know, I'm just some stuff,
a little floating dandefluff.
Only angels can ever tell.
Find them by the wishing well
is my advice. Farewell.
