Dance

I danced with the moon last night
Embraced in his silvery glow.
He held me close, warm, and tight.
As we waltzed above sights below.

The earth was a splash of colors
That seemed forgotten ages away.
I didn't think of sisters and brothers
As the moon held me in his sway.

We circled Saturn, Pluto, and Mars,
Never mind he was out of his orbit.
He told me secrets about the stars
So cunning I could scarcely absorb it.

Celestial music played for our dance
More moving than I had ever heard.
I flirted with a chance for romance,
A notion I now know was absurd.

Suddenly the moon bent me low
And the music moved to a finale.
"I'm sorry my dear, but I must go."
`Twas a dance of the sweetest folly.
