Daily Bread

I feel so lost
When I’m away
From your presence
Gone days
Lost days
Without thanksgiving
With bowed head

I feel so lost
When I stray
Through the world
Without
Your words
Of wisdom
To guide me
Then I suffer
Anxiety
Knowing I’m not fighting
Against weapons
Of this world

I feel so lost
When I’m apart
Never telling you
The desires
Of my heart
Then I despise
Confusion
Even though it’s inevitable
Because I have no direction
I haven’t heard
Your message
In some time
Thinking I have more time
To retreat
From the battlefield
Alone
Go back
And put on
The spirit of the Lord
My armor
And my sword
To fight another day
But without
My marching orders
To show me the way
I become apprehensive
In this world,
So sinful
I feel so lost
That I suffer withdrawal
But He never writes me off
No matter how hard I stumble
His love so soft
Breaks my fall

He removes the guilt
I suffer
From my ignorance
False
Independence
I’m dependant on him
Forever
That is why
I bow
My head
And receive
My daily bread

Good afternoon Jordan. The weekend and half this week are gone and this is the first I have had a chance to read. Had so much drama in my life. Really feeling good reading poetry today. Glad yours was among them. Love, Carol
