Daddy's Name

A lie
A soul
Hurts
Another scream
A fight
Head feels like explosion
He goes Boom!
She shakes
Head pounding
Wraps arms around waist
Quietly watching
As he explodes
She stands
She wont cry
She won't hide
She won't be scared
She'll make her Daddy proud
Even as he screams out loud
She wont show fear
Daddy taught her straight
She wont be a woos as long,
As she wears his name
No tears
No Fear
No pain
Not in this game

This is the perfect description of a warrior Princess Jay - its as though His Name is the body you wear, the genetics, the soul that has grown out of Him - if I ever have a Daughter I hope that I can inspire such loyalty! He must be proud - Always - J.A.B. %

Powerful poem, Jessica! It evokes such compassion from the reader. It's sad that any child would have to work so hard to seem tough. The psychological abuse is frightening. I can only pray "this game" is over. You deserve better treatment. Excellent, heart-wrenching poem! Love, Carolyn
