Daddy Is Drunk Again

Cover your head, close your ears Don’t listen to that voice He’s drunk once again Since drinking is by choice If you can’t see him Maybe it’s a whipping you’ll save Stay still, don’t move The liquors made him a slave Hear those glasses? Yes, they’re breaking But don’t cry, don’t even move Maybe he’ll get sleepy Then the night might improve I know you are shaking And I know you want to cry But please don’t whimper And we might just slide by Is that him snoring? Lord I hope so But stay real quite Cause we really don’t know We young’uns can’t be talking Or it’s the devil to pay Let’s pray daddy has passed out And won’t wake until day
