Daddy Claus
That hinge always squeaked
That floor always creaked
So Santa Claus never could slink
I’d know he was there
He’d ruffle my hair
And then he would leave with a wink
One Christmas he said
As I sat up in bed
‘Don’t let your mum know you saw me’
That was our secret
He knew I would keep it
’twas Dad dressed as Santa before me
On that Christmas Day
Mum said ‘We should pray,’
Then, ‘Son, you will need to be brave,
I’ll hold your hand
And we’ll go as we planned
To lay flowers on Daddy’s grave.’
