NEON NEGATIVITY

Take for instance this morning when I awoke next to my brother stuck and stifled in the hood
That ain’t no f*****g good
For good gains its power because bad is serving Satan and good is bowing to your god
S**t…my god’s been on the nod since winkin killed blinkin
Or I shot Lincoln
No, Marley shot the sheriff
And I know he didn’t kill the deputy
Because that was me
Funny thing though,
ain’t no saviors to be found in the hood
And that ain’t no f*****g good
I see the projects which project profound poverty as a plague
And the visceral veins of a body eclectic which can be very vague
Opaque one might say
Or even two can say opaque
And both be on the take
Bribed to be brutal and bribed to be blind
That’s the men who stick a badge upon their chest
Because in the hood the color blue stands for authentic authority figures
Until a young mind finally figures out that blue is the problem
Spilling red from tomorrow’s possibilities
And then there are the ones who simply want to check out of this place
So they get surrounded by cops with laser weapons aimed precisely and well
Oh what the hell?
Red dots dancing all upon his chest
“Don’t move” screams blue
“now boy, drop”
But he makes a move for an invisible weapon
And that’s what we here in the hood call suicide by cop
Yep, waking up in the hood don’t do nobody no god damned good
