Cycle of Sadness

Hurling toward heartache
Stumbling toward sorrow
Resisting making it worse
Uneasy about tomorrow

Anxiously awaiting impact
Unsure how things will land
Thinking though scenarios
My head stuck in the sand

The day of reckoning arrives
Tension tugging at my heart
Stress fractures building up
Slowly tearing me apart

Should I dwell in the dreary
Wishing away what is true
Or acknowledge the agony
Knowing I'll make it though

We all get saddled with sadness
But must accept that feeling blue
Is just a temporary state of mind
And doesn’t permanently define you
