Cycle

At the rise of the dawn There’s an awakening of goosebump A caress on the skin- That arouses a rush of wind A window of joy — I testify The joy through the window — I rely For cuddles everyday- That reels through for the day Her rays of affection- Pierces deep for a connection- For a warm welcome- To every cold that comes. The shut of my eyes- No longer sees dark skies As the light would beam- Like a swell of stream I’m set for the heat- For a long track treat Down every race- Comes the shades I will at dusk dip steeply For a reminiscent quickly Biding time for a recycle Of her endearments cycle

The poem begins with a seemingly happy and bright atmosphere until it is revealed that the joy is a memory. I sense longing and memory of a lucent past. I like the gradual unwrapping of the memory and the deeply fealt emotions. I also enjoy the opening of the poem which refers to the rising sun. This I believe is a symbol of the past memory which is being remembered and hence rising gradually like the sun. Also, the window allows a passage into the soul as the poet purges the same on his paper.
