Cyberdreams and Other Loves

Cyberdreams and other loves that impact on our lives
Like meteoric fragments from dark and starless skies
Leave ripples on our souls like pebbles tossed into a pond
Swirling eddies of emotion that go dancing on and on.
As we watch, they come to us and then again are lost
As we wander through our imperfect world adding up the cost
Of that which was lost to us before we were born.

Yet cyberdreams and other loves are all that some may know
So they stumble through their dull, grey lives as on their way they go
And the torrent they are caught in from the moment their lives start
Pulls them screaming out in terror past the edge of love's rampart
To let them plummet toward the stony teeth that life presents to all
Where they find their aspirations crushed at the end of that long fall
And they at last find life's final ending.

But cyberdreams and other loves need not be emotion's end
For I know that in this cold, cruel world I will find true love and friends
That will hold me up and keep me from that long and tragic fall
And help me to resist that sad and lonely siren's call.
So I will travel onward 'til at last I make it home
To she whose love will bind me and I never more will roam
Among the cyberdreams and other loves.
