Cyber Friends

Do I really know you although I call you friend Friends made in cyberspace disappear with no end Do I really know you just from your written word Putting so much trust in that seems rather absurd Your words chosen 'careful' your face I cannot see Can I really know if you're a friend to me As said about the internet you can be what you want to be So are you really what you say or are you deceiving me. (Dedicated to a my best cyber friend ever.. RIP Gayle Stanley.. We became friends online, for 2 years we joined groups together, we talked about trusting people online, and eventually emailed or chatted almost everyday about out families and life and then she suddenly disappeared. She had MS, but had more drive and spirit than most people I know.)

I have made many friends in the cyberworld and a few have disappeared along the way. It is definitely sad when that happens and of your situation, truly sad when someone was so close and you have no idea where that person is anymore. It seems we will think the worse when that happens. Very nicely done Lenna but quite sad.

Thank You Chris :) It was very sad. The last time we talked, she was in the hospital telling me about a new treatment she was undergoing at the time. Before that, she would tell me all about her adventures on her golf cart. She couldn't get around real well, but that never stopped her. I remember playfully yelling at her for going on her treks alone through the woods,(she liked the woods, like me) but I am glad she did those things anyway, it was living. :)

I am really sorry Lenna, that your friend is not there anymore to talk together. It is hard to trust, but it can be so very rewarding when you do. I have made fantastic online friends, and I wouldn't know what to do without them.

Thank you Darren, I miss her still. Glad to hear you have made great online friends. I haven't made any real close ones since, but I do have a couple people I've talked to for awhile. Thank you for stopping by :)

I am so sorry your friend is no longer around Lenna and your dedication is a lovely tribute. I can relate so much as my writing partner here disappeared with health issues, he came back for a short time and then vanished again. Your poem also serves as a warning as none of us know who really lurks behind the keyboard and we can be drawn in with false friends in the cyber world:-( hugs Jan xx

exactly Jan, I have met a lot of great people online, but also the opposite. We all just need to be aware, as in meeting anyone. Trust is earned. Thanks for stopping Jan, hugs back :)
