Curse of Insmonia

nights long and sleepless
full of toss and turn
in the dark I'm helpless
nagging thoughts too stern
      so desperately needing rest
      before my eyes explode
no way to be my best
      in this sleep deprived mode
days seem truly endless
everything in slow motion
feeling so damn restless
I need some kind of potion
      some brew in the pot
      something to pick me up
      I'll take a double shot
      hurry, fill my cup
I'll take anything
to banish this wicked haze
I'll try anything
to vanquish insomnia's evil ways!

Better make it two pots and make it strong. :) Fortunately I can not relate to this, I have hardly ever had a problem sleeping. I think it is my schedule of arising at 4:00am for work and not arriving home until 7:00pm. That makes one very tired poet. :) I love your poems Christy, your format is unique to you and your style is excellent. I know I'll never fall asleep reading one of your poems.
