Curse
Tires squeal for purchase
The rain slicked road denies
The rage of metal screaming
Shattering glass implodes
Strobes of light flashing
Red and blue display
Tangled mass of steel
Dead upon arrival
You stand there oblivious
Eyes red and staring
The cause of the destruction
It doesn’t even faze you
Weaving there so numb and stupid
An unlit cigarette in your lips
Hands shaking like jittery birds
Your mouth moves dumbly
You have no excuse
No care no caution
It’s all your fault
You pop your pills with alcohol
A thief, a murderer, callous jerk
Blood on your hands with no remorse
You don’t even realize what you’ve done
Ruined lives with a reckless mind
You took them fast
The red light ignored
Even when you hit
You had no sense of wrong
You’ll go to jail
Three hots and a cot
Maybe get clean, maybe be saved
But you’ll never really pay
The system will set you free
To ride the roads again
Drunk or sober you’ll drive
Forgetting those wasted lives.
But I will not forget
I curse you with bitter breath
Your life to be an endless hell
And I give you an infallible memory.
