Curly the Dog

He was instrumental in my younger years
Always right there by my side
He never judged me
Never made me feel wrong inside

To say he was my best friend
Would be a silly thing to say
At one point he was my everything
I think about him to this day

His name was Curly
Part Schnauzer and who knows what
He had a happy little smile
He was so much more than just a mutt

We’d spend hours hunting and fishing
We’d sit together in the barn
There was no doubt about it
I was a kid on Curly’s farm

When no one was around
I’d ask him questions that caused me pain
He look me in the eyes
His answers were always the same

He reminded me to live in the moment
Don't chase your tail in trouble times
Be of service to your fellow man
You'll have peace within your mind

Curly’s no longer here
But I think of him time to time
It’s funny, he never said a word
But forever, he will be running by my side
