Crystal Tears

Every night she prayed for something To make a change in her life Knowing when he came home again He would claim her as his wife She had to do as he wanted Never dared to refuse Knowing that would only get her Another painful bruise Her silent tears fell like crystals From a broken chandelier She screamed, but only in her mind So he could never hear Those terrible years ended for her When he was driving like a fool He was so drunk he missed his turn And drowned in the neighbor's pool That night: Her joyful tears sparkled like crystals On a golden chandelier She laughed out loud, not caring If the whole, wide world could hear.
