Crispy Critters

CRISPY CRITTERS

Their whiskers singed,
the dogs unhinged,
the horses flee,
and goats run free.

The deer stag leap,
from flames that keep,
and creatures scream,
as their flesh steam.

Their eyes do melt,
with sore and welt,
all lost their home,
and forced to roam.

They seek their owners,
by now, all loaners,
more lost than found,
for miles around.

Their lungs breath smoke,
inhaled, they choke,
no water, food, or cozy bed,
no rest for limbs, or weary head.

Their paws are raw,
by natures's law,
that flames take down,
all life, Earthbound.

We stir the ash to find the gem,
and search to find each one of them,
to catch and find, to love and hold,
our frightened, furry, lost and bold.

Broken things, and broken hearts,
the village shifts to make new starts,
and yet their souls' are pained and sore,
for kitty, puppy, colt, and more.

Edlynn so touching write. I was wondering where you have been. I remember you saying about the fires and that you were busy dealing with them. I'm so sorry for your pain and heartfelt pain for the animals. I hope you are ok. This is a touching write on all God's beautiful animals. I can't wait till it all ends for you. We miss you on the soup. Stay well my Dear friend and safe.

Hanging in there Michael! I'm luckier than most b/c I didn't need to EVAC but our Norman Rockwell Community looks like Tent City for more than 72,000 acres. There is SO MUCH to do. I feel badly that I didn't give this poem much crafting! I did tell the story though. I miss all of you too. €:-0

So sad, poor creatures. I hope the fires stop soon for the better.

Thank you for your best wishes! Me too Njeri...I'm having trouble breathing from the smoke & my nose is raw inside. I need to repack in the event there is another fire. It is starting to heat up to triple digits again. NOT what we need with the Fire only 45% in containment after one week. Sigh! Thanks for reading this and I hope to stop by & read more of everyone's soon?

Thank you CayCay! I'm so out of it right now! Please forgive me for being less than attentive or engaging. If we can just get past the Fire Season (end of Oct.) I hope to return to my new friends here. Let us hope we get rain but no flooding. Disastrous after this many burns. I miss so many of you!
