Creature In the Night

Where cold stars exist in the dark,
serene winds whisper to trees
and scarce human ears can listen,
lone songs wail in the distance
in frozen moon's silver spotlight,
a mark left where paws had paused.

This poem was also inspired by actual events. A few weeks ago, I discovered 
some large animal paw prints that were left in the snow, near my home. I later
found out that the tracks were made by a wolf.

Sara Kendrick January 18, 2015 at 4:46 PM Scary to think that a wolf was so close by..We have coyotes here that are seen from time to time..We also have BobCats which I have not ever seen one of them..There are panthers or mountain lions in this area as well but I have never seen one near my home but saw one dead in a few counties over..People who have feeding stations for deer and have cameras there to take time lapse pictures have got some pictures of a black panther..Thanks for stopping by..This one is well done in a few lines..Sara Kelly Deschler January 22, 2015 at 1:31 AM Thank you for your nice comments, Sara. We do have coyotes and bobcats, too, but I have never seen them. We hear them often, so I know they're around!
