Creating a Conscience

Can’t make you ever want to be me
Can’t let you ever come too near me

Conscious through all my undertakings
But silence is the pace at which I’m waking
I’ll break off if ever you can hear it
The noise that can take away the spirit

So deep within the things I’ve wanted
There’s something within me that is haunted
So rare that laughter isn’t riddled
And it’s too rare that I don’t self-belittle

Can’t free the feeling that’s inside me
Still can’t see the soul I need beside me

Can’t save the ones I love from dying
Can’t save myself when I am lying
I was supposed to be their darkness
But I died when I chose to put aside this

I rise alone to find a way to be me
Even though I know this sacrifice will kill me
