Cows Line Up

What do cows do?
Munch munch grass and moo,
Watch horizons long and blue,
Listen in to insects humming,
Splat fat cow-pats on the dirt.

Cows walk to the dairy in a crowd:
To and fro, to and fro,
Their udders swinging as they go.

They line up for the metal calves
With sucking tubes all disinfected,
Yet cows still seem to sleep contented.

Suzanne Delaney January 27, 2024 at 5:20 AM Enjoyed your funny cow poem; Jeanette When I lived in Sydney we used to drive out to Camden to see them all being milked on the rotolacter, Not sure if that is still in operation but as kids we were fascinated. I wrote a funny cow poem once. Thee cow fence decorators and the really cool free cows were funny, and yes, I do remember the cow milking display too ( that's probably my memory for the milking image. My mother in law grew up on a dairy farm at Nimben before it became a hippy hang ( now 96years). She said she could recognize individual cows by their unique faces.
