Counting the Fog
8:25 am 27 Sept 2014
When the leaves turn up its going to rain
It'll be a bad storm when old cats like kittens play
The number dogs in the dog house tells how cold the night will be
The amount of rain determines the fall colors of leaves
When the moon is clear
Then frost is near
The taller the sunflower many know
Determines the depth of the coming snow
Wooly worm more brown less snow on the ground
Wooly worm more black more fire wood to stack
Counting the fog on the mountain tops
Determines how many snows there'll be as told by pops
These are just a few of the folklore predictions
Handed down through time by honored tradition
By wise old women and wise old men
Blessed to us by God so we can learn from them
