Countdown

In junior high, one day a week The radio would play The top hits, 25 of them And so, without delay My friend and I would hurry home And hang out in her room To hear the countdown, which, Like m&m’s, we would consume. I kept a notebook, writing down From 25 to 1, The songs we heard and wouldn’t leave Until the list was done. Today my radio is tuned To classic QXR,* The countdown, from 100, Very beautiful so far. When midnight strikes to end the year, They’ll play the final choice And like I did in junior high, (If I’m up), I’ll rejoice. *WQXR – the classical music station of NYC

I too listen to QXR. My addiction to classical music started at an early age, about ten. I feed on it daily like a druggie his fix. I can't imagine life without it. / Maurice

My late wife did that, too, but her "favourites" were at least one generation behind mine! Aloha! Rico

Ha, ha! Brings back the good old days of rock'n'roll, this does. We had the 'Top 40' in Chicago. DJ's were named Art Roberts, Dick Biondi, and Ich Fargessen. (Maybe you've heard of Biondi?! He's still alive!.. I think he's 173 years old now). Just sayin' ... HNY, ilene! :) gw

Nothing beats the sound of good music be it sixties, classical or whatever. Old songs bring up treasure troves of memories. Happy New year. Tom
