Cottonwood Leaves

fluffing silver leaves
cottonwood steadies herself
glittering my heart.

My favorite tree, I LOVE cottonwood trees. When I was ten my Daddy built me a giant treehouse-reading -writing nook in the fork of two of these giants. I spent many summer days there ignoring everyone but the neighbors whose business I knew first as voices carry in the summer well.

This is amazing. I would of never known cotton wood trees have silvery leaves. Congratulations on being in the top 100.

Thank you Bette. I had fun writing this one. When I was 10 my Daddy built me a treehouse in the top of two giant twin cottonwood trees. I spent all summer there with a sandwich, a glass of milk, and 7 or 8 books a day. Devoured everything, and spied on the neighbors. I knew more about the neighborhood than anyone.

Thank you Jasmine. If there is one thing I love it is a tree.
