Coronavirus

(I know this is a dark poem, but also factual. If you want a lighter poem, please read the few before this one *that I hope you will visit)

Some may say, don’t worry, make light of it
As if people may be causing an unnecessary fit
Truth is, I’ve watched the info. And numbers climb
I’ve also seen repercussions from tick carrying Lyme
China shuts down cities, keeping people inside
Unable to control it, with no safe place to hide
Countries scramble with travel bans, restrictions they cast
But, this particular virus hits two body areas and fast
San Francisco has already become an unsanitary place
Cases have started there, contacts unable to trace
A doctor says this is a pandemic, heading to be
Preparation is all we can do, with what we see
I say this as my compromised health system will kill
To face this true fact, takes very strong will
I pray for everyone affected by this nightmare
Because in a time like this, what is left is prayer

Yes it is a worrying time for all of us, and getting more serious by the day. I also saw that about the baby. Terrible! Thank you for your comment on this Jan. Take care. :)

I agree with you Darlene. It bothers me to downplay it, because it is literally a serious concern. I can hope for the best for the United States. I appreciate your taking the time to comment on this. Have a nice day, my friend :)

They do need to get a handle on this before it does reach epidemic proportions. It is very scary, that is for sure. Nicely done my friend.

Yes, they do. Mayo Clinic now labels this a pandemic. They claim, we will know in the next few weeks whether it takes off in the United States or we dodge a bullet. Hopefully we can dodge the bullet. Thank you for your comment on this :)

Sometimes truth is dark--you are right, this virus is devastating--scientists are working hard--may be they will develop a shot soon.

Fifty millions died backin 1917 because of the Spanish flu! This means that always there is the danger to have as many victims or even more today since then the world population was less than two millions whil today the population approaches eight billions! A timely very well written poem dearest, Heidi! Hugs xxx

I see what you mean Demetrios and this is a concern. It is easy for people to minimize it, but the facts cannot be ignored. I hope that somehow it is managed. Thank you for your comment :)

A worrying time Heidi, they say it only affects those with underlying health problems. The Spanish flu started off like that and came back ten times stronger and wiped out thousands just after the first world war. I'd never heard of it until Rhoda Tripp asked me to write a poem about it. Well written verse. Tom

What a beautiful poem, my friend. After all the precautions you can take, prayer is surely the most comforting (and calming). Superb! Healthy wishes, Gershon
