Cool Shadow
Cool Shadow
Beneath the trees, where cool shadows play
Upon the leaves of years gone by
A game, with all sun’s errant rays
To be chased, to hide and then to fly.
To join the dark with inky hue
And play again with light of moon
Till blade and leaf adorned with dew
Bejewelled as diamonds thickly strewn.
Are found again in early morn
And once again wear daylight’s coat
To lie down under bush and thorn
Or dance upon the wind, to float.
From east to west become long and short
Then long again with time of day
And call the wind to join the sport
Beneath the trees, cool shadows play.
